About Out On Campus

Out On Campus is Simon Fraser University's centre for lesbian, gay, transgendered and bisexual people and their allies. Throughout the semester we offer a wide range of events and activities, ranging from socials to workshops to discussion groups. We also offer references to counselling and support for students, staff and faculty of Simon Fraser.

In our office space we offer a lounge, a library, a kitchen, and an office area with two computers and a free phone. The office is located on the Burnaby campus on the north side of the Rotunda, which is above the main bus stop. All are invited!

Having re-established a strong volunteer base, Out On Campus is reaching out this year, looking at larger issues that affect queer people and allies of all communities. We are expanding the concept of queer to acknowledge that everyone is affected by issues of sexuality and gender, because we all have them. We demand representation for all aspects of our community!

  • Rotunda Library Online Database

At last, our library database is online! Check out the online database for the Rotunda Library, including Out On Campus, the Women's Centre and SFPIRG! Search for books, renew checked out materials and make suggestions for additions to the libraries! Don't have a user ID? Stop by any of our libraries to sign up!

  • Condom Policy

Out On Campus is implementing a condom policy. Free condoms (lubricated/unlubricated/non-latex) and lube are still available as free for safer sex from the OOC lounge, but we ask that users please limit themselves to taking a reasonable number of condoms for personal use only. For larger quantities of condoms or for organizations looking for condoms, please contact the OOC Coordinator for information on how to order your own.

  • The Got Queer Campaign

For those of you who weren’t around this summer, haven’t visited the lounge, didn’t see us in the Pride Parade, or generally haven’t opened their eyes on the SFU Campus, OOC has launched a new campaign called “Got Queer?” Colourful rainbow plays on the “Got Milk” campaign have been springing up all over campus, so far representing twenty different queer identifications. The OOC lounge even has buttons for you, inspired by the campaign! Check out the link at the top of the page to see all the downloadable posters, and to get definitions of all the terms used. See a definition that could use a little tweaking? Let us know and we’ll adjust it!
